This self-adhesive heat shrink tubing is an extruded plastic sleeve made from semi-flexible, flame-retardant, cross-linked Polyolefin that can be cut to size and fitted over a wire or cable joint to provide protection and insulation.
When melted, the inner adhesive lining of this sleeving melts and flows to encapsulate the components and wire joints contained within, providing permanent water and moisture barrier. This adhesive lining makes it especially suitable for use in underground cable joint applications, electrical insulation, mechanical protection of wires and small parts from abrasion, automatic strain relief on cable and connector joints to prevent damage caused by flexing or bending, and bundling and organising of harness wires, cable and tubing.
This sleeving has high shrink ratios of 3:1 and 4:1 and can shrink to a third of its original diameter. This makes it ideal for covering irregular or awkward shapes and is versatile enough to protect cable jackets, wire splices or electrical components. So only a few sizes are required for a comprehensive range of diameter applications.
With non-corrosive and self-extinguishing chemical properties, the tubing has excellent electrical insulation and abrasion resistance. It is fluid-resistant at 23˚C for 24 hours for the following fluids: F-54 diesel fluid, H-515 hydraulic fluid, 0-149 lubricating oil.
Conforms to standards MIL - DTL-23053/4 class 3, UL224 125°c 600v E75077, CSA C22.2 No.198.1.
